Letter Drop St. Vincent de Paul Jack Tuthill
On Thursday the 30th November. Some of the transition year students took a bus to the Kill of the Grange Family Parish for the St Vincent De Paul letter drop. We were split up into groups of two and brought to different estates in the area. We were all given about a hundred letters or so. Sean and I worked together and we were dropped to the one estate. It was a big estate and with only me and Sean working it it did take a while . We walked from door to door putting the letters in the letter boxes until we were finished the whole estate. When we had finished we walked back to Parish to wait for the bus to leave. All together this letter drop was hugely successful and was quite fun. €2,814 was raised for St Vincent de Paul as a direct result of the work we did for the day.

On the 19th December, transition year took part in the annual Saint Vincent de Paul hamper packing. This involved packing hundreds of hampers with food supplies for families in our local area. We worked with the 5th years to pack all the hampers. A few fourth years were put into groups with two or three fifth years. We went down to the sports hall in the morning and we were divided into our different groups. Each group was in charge of packing 20 boxes. The food and supplies were placed around the sports hall and we had to collect different amounts of each item for the hampers. We packed the hampers with biscuits, sweets, tinned foods, bread, meats, tea, cereal and other items. We packed all the hampers in an hour or so. Then we went up to the canteen for some hot chocolate and a cookie. All together it was a very successful morning and I really enjoyed it.
